Neemrana – a 15th century fort on the Delhi-Jaipur highway is one of the few remaining royal luxuries that we can indulge in today’s times.

We visited Neemrana Fort in the month of Feb when the Indian weather is pleasant. This meant it was not that bad to walk in the afternoon sun. We stayed for a night experiencing the royalty.

Now before you start packing your bags & grab your car keys; here’s a quick guide for the same –

  • What is the best time to visit?
    • Not in peak summer – any other time is just perfect
  • What should I pack?
    • Summer clothes, a jacket/shawl for early morning/late nights, your camera (duh! Of course) and your partner J
  • Where should I stay?
    • There’s a string of room options ranging from 2 people suite to gigantic group accommodation rooms. We chose the cosy Neelam Mahal which was perfect for the 2 of us
  • How much money do I need? (acceptable currency is INR)
    • A very table top estimate:
      • Room/night (luxury has no limits J) – 12k INR/night
      • Meals – 1k for the Gala dinner + add ons
    • What to visit?

Well, here it goes:

Day1

Journey: Delhi-> Neemrana

Stay: We stayed at Neelam Mahal

Leave early morning to beat the Gurgaon traffic. You may choose to take a stopover for breakfast at any restaurant on the highway. It is a 2.5 hour drive (approx. 120km) from Delhi with the last 1km being the most difficult since it passes through a busy market with tight lanes. But once you enter the medieval era gates, the feeling starts to sink in.

Large strong walls of the fort palace give you a welcome that is warm yet humbling.

While you are at the reception to get the formalities in order, don’t be surprised to find couples just waiting for their moment to capture the best shot for their “pre-wedding” album. Once you’ve been escorted to your respective room, freshen up and get ready to explore this magnificent fort palace. The evening high tea is the perfect start to this experience. Just find the best view (a lot of options), take your cup and indulge in all those conversations about ‘Life’ that your busy daily life did not permit.

Post your tea, start exploring the fort. And, oh, don’t bother about the pre wed shoots 😀

The swing with a view, the entry gate, the city sunset view, the cannon, gardens, poolside and the winding staircase of the lighthouse are a MUST!

Next up, be seated in the auditorium for a brilliant folk performance. The immaculate poses presented by the performer coupled with expressions that translated with entire saga was nothing short of phenomenal.

The gala dinner setup just provides the right ambience with mood lighting to make it a perfect day. There are no better closures than the Nolan-Bale Batman trilogy but this one comes close 😉

Time to have a good night’s sleep now.
